  • Therapy is beneficial if you’re feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or seeking personal growth. If you’re unsure, we encourage you to schedule a consultation to explore whether our services align with your needs.

  • We integrate multiple evidence-based and culturally affirming therapeutic approaches to support your healing journey, including:

    • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) – Helps identify and change unhelpful thought patterns.

    • Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) – Focuses on emotional regulation, distress tolerance, and mindfulness.

    • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) – Encourages psychological flexibility and values-driven living.

    • Feminist Therapy – Examines the impact of societal structures on mental health, empowering women to reclaim their voices.

    • Relational-Cultural Theory (RCT) – Highlights the importance of meaningful connections in healing.

    • Narrative Therapy – Helps reframe and reclaim your personal story in a way that aligns with your growth and empowerment.

    • Dance/Movement Therapy (D/MT) - the psychotherapeutic use of movement to promote emotional, social, cognitive, and physical integration of the individual, for the purpose of improving health and well-being.

  • Our approach is culturally affirming, trauma-informed, and rooted in community, healing, and empowerment. We don’t offer one-size-fits-all therapy; we honor the lived realities of Black women and women of the African diaspora.

At Yemaya Wellness Center, we integrate evidence-based therapy with a deep understanding of how racism, gendered expectations, family roles, and the Superwoman Schema impact your mental health, body, and relationships. Sessions may include talk therapy, body-based awareness, creative expression, and mindfulness to help you not just cope, but reclaim ease, softness, and self-trust on your own terms.

  • Yes — Yemaya Wellness Center currently accepts Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts (BCBS MA) for individual therapy sessions. If you are a BCBS MA member, you can use your in-network benefits for care with our clinicians.

    • What if I don’t have BCBS MA? Can I still work with you?

Absolutely. If we are not in-network with your insurance plan, you may still be able to receive partial reimbursement for sessions through your out-of-network (OON) benefits. Many clients use this option successfully.

Out-of-network benefits simply mean your insurance company may cover a portion of your session fee even if your provider is not in their network. Clients are often surprised by how much their plan will reimburse.

If you’re unsure whether you have OON coverage, we can help you check.

  • We partner with Mentaya, a HIPAA-compliant platform that handles all OON claim submissions on your behalf.

    Here’s how it works:
    • After each session, Mentaya automatically submits the claim for you.
    • They track, manage, and follow up on reimbursement so you don’t have to.
    • You receive the reimbursement directly from your insurance company.
    • Mentaya charges a small percentage fee only when you get money back.

This saves you time, eliminates paperwork, and increases the likelihood that you’ll receive the full reimbursement you’re entitled to.

If you choose to use Mentaya, we’ll send you the link to activate your account. It takes less than two minutes.

    • Can you help me understand my coverage?

Yes. We know insurance can be overwhelming, and we’re happy to support you.
    Our team can help you:
    • Check your OON benefits
    • Understand your deductibles and reimbursement rates
    • Navigate both BCBS MA and private-pay options
    • Set up Mentaya if you choose to use it

We believe clarity supports healing — and you deserve ease at every step.

  • Yes, we offer private pay options for those who prefer to self-pay for services. This option allows for more flexibility and privacy in your treatment.

  • You can schedule an appointment by filling out our contact form, booking a consultation online here or by emailing us at healing@yemayawellnesscenter.com.

  • Your first session is an intake session where we discuss your history, concerns, and therapy goals. It’s a space to explore what brings you to therapy and how we can best support your healing journey.

    How long are therapy sessions?
    Sessions typically last 50–55 minutes.

    How often will we meet?
The frequency of sessions depends on your needs. Many clients start with weekly sessions and adjust as progress is made.

    Do you offer virtual therapy?
Yes! We offer secure virtual therapy for clients based in Massachusetts.

  • We honor your time—and ours—by holding your session exclusively for you.

Because of this, we require a 48-hour notice for all cancellations and rescheduled appointments.

Cancellations made less than 48 hours in advance will incur a cancellation fee, as the time cannot be offered to another client.

If you ever need support or have questions about your appointment, you can reach us anytime at info@yemayawellnesscenter.com.

  • Yemaya Wellness Center offers flexible hours to support the schedules of busy professionals, with intentional time reserved for rest and holiday honoring.

    Current Hours:
Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, Sunday: 11am – 7pm
    Wednesday & Saturday: Closed

We pause on major holidays to honor rest, culture, and community care.
